Bobbie Barker, Secretary

Bobbie Barker joined St. David's Foundation in August 2008 as Vice President for Grants and Community Programs, overseeing the Foundation's multi-million dollar grant-making process, ongoing development of the Foundation's program areas of mental health, aging services, medical clinics and support services, and healthy living, as well as outreach to other community agencies and programs. ??

Prior to joining the Health Foundation, Bobbie was Vice President of Administration for Texas Gas Service, a division of ONEOK. Ms. Barker has worked in Austin, Texas in a variety of positions for Texas Gas Service and its predecessor, Southern Union Gas, since 1992.

Ms. Barker began her career as Manager of Mergers and Acquisitions and later became Executive Vice President for Pipeline Companies. In addition, Ms. Barker served as Vice President for Operations for Texas Gas Service's eastern region from 1997 to 2003.

Prior to joining the gas company, Bobbie worked at the Texas Water Commission in various capacities, ending her career in 1992 as the Deputy Executive Director. Prior to the Water Commission, she worked for the Legislative Budget Board and the Texas Legislature.

Ms. Barker's first professional career was as a social worker with Trinity Valley Mental Health Mental Retardation and then with the Austin State Hospital between 1976 and 1980.

Ms. Barker is very involved in the Austin community and has served on boards of numerous non-profit and civic organizations. Currently, she serves as the Vice Chair of the UT School of Architecture Advisory Council and Vice Chair to AARO's energy committee. She has served as Chair for the Austin Area Research Organization, the Austin Area Urban League, and the Downtown Austin Alliance. A graduate of Leadership Austin and the Governor's Executive Development Program, Ms. Barker is a recipient of the Profiles in Power award from the Austin Business Journal.

Ms. Barker holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Texas State University and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ms. Barker was reappointed by the Austin City Council to a second four-year term on the Board of Managers in December, 2009 after serving an initial four-year term which began in November of 2005.
